Frequently asked questions

What is fair trade?

Fair trade is a global movement towards equity in international trade. Fair trade organizations work with marginalised producers to help them move from a position of vulnerability to security and economic self-sufficiency, to empower producers to become stakeholders in their own organizations.

How is the money I am spending on your products helping women?

Fair Fabric sources goods only from women who are involved in cottage industries or co-operatives that offer sustainable development. We are committed to empowering women to create change in socities, to improve the lives of families, children and the community. Buying silk prodcuts through Fair Fabric helps to fund literacy, health and vocational training for the women who create the products.

How do you know that the women who make Fair Fabric products are treated well and directly benefit?

Fair Fabric partners with established non-profit organizations that need to meet certain criteria to ensure that the women involved in the production are the real beneficiaries. Our partners need to offer training, job security and opportunity for the women to become stakeholders in the organization.
